Review by BrufordFreak Collaborator Honorary Collaborator When compared to so many of the modern Neo Prog releases of this decade, this is an extraordinarily well engineered and produced album. The acoustic guitar sounds, bass, keys and vocals have clarity and separation and yet the mixing gives all instruments a blended feeling of “togetherness” which is so often absent from the over compressed, over neutralized tracks of other releases. This is truly an amazingly constructed and performed song! The cynical lyric is also quite interesting–what if it’s really too late to recover from the damage we’ve inflicted?! Nice organ, nice hand percussion, nice acoustic guitar play in that dynamic fourth minute. Excellent guitar work in that Mellotron-drenched sixth minute. Then we return to the Middle Eastern themes and sounds for an up-shifted key for the final minute. The amping up with electric guitars and medieval sounding instruments in support at the three minute mark cause me to back away and lose interest. Nice, clear sound mix in the very middle. The song flounders a few times, losing my attention and interest even through repeated listenings.

Samuel Milani November 19, Columbus, Ohio seems to be a hot seat for pushing out creatives when it comes to alternative music, and Stairwell is no exception. Stairwell delivers his lines with radio hit cadence, but despite that the subject matter still manages to hit home. The lyrical content ranges from love, to relationship indifference, to nostalgic reminiscence.
Stairwell sets the tone for the EP with the first lines of the song: Yesterday also manages to boast an entrancing vocal performance in transition from Stairwell. Dark, ambient, bassy pads echo the track along with a simple guitar riff to keep the piece cohesive. If heard out of context, this track would be thought of as something that would be played on your local pop radio station. From casual pop listeners to hardcore midwest emo stans, you can find something to appreciate about this project.
The EP clocks in at about 15 minutes, and offers something for every mood. This is just the beginning for Stairwell, and we can expect much more from him in the near future.

December 16, by Fiction Editor Beth Hill last modified February 14, A scene transition takes characters and readers to a new location, a new time, or a new point of view. So, we use scene transitions to skip periods of time or to change to a new location in the story, glossing over events that happen between the new and old times or locations. Transitions are important in fiction because the writer can’t possibly portray or account for every moment in a character’s day, week, or life.
When the bulb of The Hammer is squeezed, the shaft lights up. Since I was young, I’ve wondered what it would be like to have a bio-cock. Unfortunately, this is an experience I am unlikely to have. It’s at least some consolation that now I have the most beautiful, glowing, rainbow penis in the world. I’ve been working on The Hammer for a couple of months. It connects to a custom-built prototype Arduino shield, and I programmed it using the Arduino software development environment.
The toy itself is made of platinum cure, body-safe silicone. Why call it “The Hammer”? When all you have is a light-up cock, everything looks like it needs to be nailed. What can you do with The Hammer? Broken Social Scene fans Starting as an instrumental project by Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning, Broken Social Scene has grown into a psychedelic, prog rock beast of an orchestra featuring the cream of Toronto’s music scene. Their debut album ‘Feel Good Lost’ was essentially an atmospheric studio creation by the two protagonists, but when it came to taking the album out on the road they started gathering local musicians to help them on their way.
By their second album ‘You Forgot It in People’ released in , the collective had swelled to 16 members, including Leslie Feist, Emily Haines and Amy Millan, and the sound had become a big sprawling mass of graceful, baroque indie. Their eponymous third album continued that theme winning a Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year, before the band stripped back to a mere seven members for their US breakthrough ‘Forgiveness Rock Record’ in After recording tracks for a new album, the band decided to take a break, which ended up lasting until when they launched a competition in partnership with book publisher House of Anansi to get authors to write short stories based on the tracks from ‘You Forgot It in People’.
They chose 13 winners, one for each track on the album, and published the stories in an anthology book. After renewing people’s perception of them through the competition, Broken Social Scene started touring the festival circuit in and released a brand new single in called ‘Halfway Home’. The single, off their album ‘Hug of Thunder’, featured singer Leslie Feist on vocals. All rights reserved Top canciones.

Canadian indie rock collective Broken Social Scene has always been a sort of “loose” project, whether it be the member list stretching into the double-digits, the fickle attitude projected toward genres, or the generally carefree attitude the production and lyrics display on the band’s albums.
