July 9, It’s tough. My most recent ex had these disorders and dealing with it all throughout our relationship wore me down. I’m a highly tolerant, patient and forgiving person, but I do draw my line somewhere. I didn’t know that getting into the relationship, when I first met him, I was curious about him, he was sorta weird but strange as in interesting. He treated me really well for a while, better than any guy treated me and did more for me than the average person did. Then suddenly things changed out of nowhere. I am truly thankful to God for this, because in all honesty, without the Lord, I couldn’t have made it through those difficult times, and having the courage to even try to stop meds after over 14 years of being medicated would have been too much for me to even consider. I remember those times sitting in my room in the dark sad, angry and agitated and full of anxiety, just thinking how much easier it would be to just give up.

Unfortunately, many people who get better, no longer post on sites afterward, just leaving us with a sample of people who all seem to be failing with this disorder. So I write this for those of you who are giving up hope; don’t give up, keep on fighting, in all the darkness you are enduring, there is a light if you hold on.
It always frustrated me to read so many stories of failure or just holding on, or somewhat stable yet the people were still lacking any happiness in life.

Relationships per se are difficult. These obsessive bipolar thoughts may be a repeating song from the radio, scenarios such as a suicide scene or a replaying of events often negative ones , but obsessive thoughts seem to be the rule rather than the exception. Note that research bears this out indicating that people with bipolar disorder have higher rates of obsessive-compulsive disorder than the average population.
Extreme Bipolar Thoughts It seems to me that simply by the virtue of extreme emotional experience, people with bipolar disorder think in the extreme quite frequently. If we have a disagreement with a friend they must hate us.
Not everyone jumps to the extremes, but people with bipolar seem to have that tendency. Anxious Bipolar Thoughts Of course, because people with bipolar have jumped to the extremes — usually negative ones — we sure the heck worry about it once we get there. Distracted Bipolar Thoughts And then there are all the distracted-, multi-tasking-type thoughts. We tend to multi-task compulsively.

Comments At the end of my first date with Sara, she moved in with me. You might think the date was extraordinary. We’d gone to a Hollywood hamburger stand and gabbed about bands and writers for four hours. Until that night, we’d only spoken on the phone a few times. By the time the ice in my soda had melted, I’d fallen in love. Sara was twenty-seven, and what people used to call a wag: She could recount every failed Everest expedition in mesmerizing detail — the sort of a talent I would expect of a rock climber, not someone who’d never gone camping.
I kept wondering why no one had snapped her up. Then I found out. I tried to remember if I’d sipped from her drink. This was the odd humor Sara and I had already established, but I wasn’t entirely joking.
